Which class is right for me???

You'd like to try yoga or you're getting back in shape and just not sure which class to take?

First ask yourself two questions:

1) What are my goals and motivation? Do you want to relax? Would you like to gain flexibility? Strength? Lose weight? Find inner peace? Just curious? Once you have that in mind ask yourself this:

2) What is my current level of fitness? Are you just beginning your journey? Are you a triathlete looking to gain more flexibility? Are you working with an injury?

No matter where you are today, you can find the right yoga class to suit your needs. There is a HUGE variety of yoga classes, styles, and teachers. So try a few classes to see what works for you.

If you are a beginner, we suggest you start with a HATHA class. Hatha yoga is a more gentle approach and each posture is held for a longer period of time. Alignment and modification cues are given by the instructor, so if you cannot reach the geometry of the posture on the first day, you will learn how to practice working towards that goal. Check the schedule for Hatha classes as they are offered both morning and evening.

If you are looking for pure RELAXATION try the Restorative/Yin or Yoga Nidra class. Each posture is supported by props (bolsters and blocks) and held for a few minutes. This allows the body and mind to dip into a deep state of relaxation while passively and gently encouraging a stretch.

If you have yoga experience already, or are looking to take it to the next level, try a VINYASA class. This class moves at a faster pace, using the tempo of the breath to move through postures. This can also be a very meditative practice for people who have an active mind that needs engagement. If you are a runner, weight trainer, cardio junkie, etc, this is the class for you. You will be surprised what a great WORKOUT yoga can be!

If you are still unsure what class to take please call or email us and we'll be happy to steer you in the right direction. Yoga has so many benefits to all aspects of your life, but like anything worthwhile, takes some dedication and commitment to reap results. But there's one thing we are sure of : It's worth it!
